Sofia Lai is a London-based interdisciplinary artist working across sculpture, textiles, installation, and painting. Using found garments, layered fabrics, and sculptural forms, her practice explores memory, identity, and the emotional traces held within bodily experience.

Drawing from her experience across art and fashion, Lai approaches clothing as both material and archive. Through processes of layering, casting, fragmentation, and reconstruction, garments are transformed into sculptural traces of intimacy, tension, and lived experience. Moving between the familiar and the uncanny, her work blurs the boundaries between body and object, presence and absence.

Rooted in personal archives, dreams, inherited histories, and gestures of everyday life, her practice reflects on transformation, resilience, and the unstable nature of identity.

Her work has been presented through exhibitions, editorial collaborations, and independent projects across contemporary art and fashion contexts. Her work has been presented at SHOWstudio Gallery in London, MoMu – Fashion Museum Antwerp, and the Grand Palais in Paris, alongside artistic collaborations with Simone Rocha, Marine Serre, Federico Cina, and Marsèll. Her work has appeared in PORT Magazine, The Face, Numéro Berlin, TANK, Vogue Italia, i-D Italy, AnOther China, Beyond Noise, Artribune, Modern Weekly Style China, Collectible DRY, C41, Le Mille, Juliet, Whitehot Magazine, and November Magazine.
