‘Burden: The Dollhouse’, Sculpture (2025)
Part of GIRLS exhibition, at MoMu Museum

Burden: The Dollhouse is a reflection of the emotional and psychological weight of societal expectations. To me, the dollhouse on the figure’s back symbolises the idealised and sometimes rigid structures of family, while the crawling figure represents how one can be weighed down under that burden. The exposed interior of the dollhouse invites you to peer inside to see the disconnect between surface and reality. The figure is still moving, however slowly, showing the resilience of girls in reclaiming their identities.
